Because of the recent recession, interest into the factors that determine sustainable\norganisational success has increased. Managers all over the world are trying out various\nimprovement concepts, seeing mixed results. One likely reason for this is the lack of\nconsensus on the organisational characteristics that lead to high performance. The research\nstudy described in this article aimed at identifying the factors which have a positive relation\nwith organisational performance, through a literature review of 290 research studies into high\nperformance and subsequent testing of possible high performance factors in 1470\norganisations worldwide. The research yielded 35 characteristics ââ?¬â?? grouped into five factors ââ?¬â??\nthat have a significant correlation with high performance and seem to be generic for all types\nof organisations, industries and countries. The research results provide managers with a\nframework that adds focus to their continuous improvement efforts in order to achieve better\nperformance. The framework will also support academics in their pursuit of ever more\nspecific improvement factors....
In risk management, it is important to find an effective model for the evaluation of the risk of the financial asset. Asset returns are mainly assumed to be normally distributed, but empirical financial data have shown that assets returns have distributions with fat tails and are often showed. In this study, the families of Partial Distribution (PD) and Normal Inverse Gaussian Distribution models are compared for the returns for the returns of financial data collected for End-of-Year exchange rates of different currencies (Japanese Yen, Swiss Franc and the Deutsche Mark) to US dollar from 1982-2002 sourced from IMF International Financial Statistics using the Vuong test. The list showed that the NIG distribution is better, considering two results in its favour....
Many African governments have invested significant amounts of capital in e-government initiatives.\r\nThis is mainly due to recognised potentials of e-government to help improve public service delivery and\r\naccountability. While the majority of e-government services in the continent are targeted at citizens in\r\ngeneral, not many studies have been done to help understand factors that impact on citizens\r\nwillingness to adopt e-government services. The objective of this paper is to explore factors that can\r\nhelp explain adoption of e-government services in general and using the findings to develop a\r\nconceptual model that shows how the various factors work together to influence adoption of egovernment\r\nservices. The proposed model builds on the constructs of the Technology acceptance\r\nmodel (TAM) as proposed by Davis in 1986. The proposed model will assist governments to understand\r\nfactors that need to be managed in order to ensure adoption of e-government services by ordinary\r\ncitizens....
This research highlights the facilitating role of knowledge management in research and development\r\n(R&D). Knowledge management meets the essential requirements of problem solving, generation of\r\nnew ideas and productivity enhancement activities of R&D organizations. R&D processes are different\r\nfrom typical organizational processes with well defined procedures and instructions. In R&D,\r\nknowledge creation, capturing, organizing, storing and its utilization, all are going in parallel and\r\nrequire utmost care for maximizing benefits. There is significant potential for improvement in the\r\nperformance of R&D organizations. Recent global financial recession has resulted in scarcity of\r\nresources and is most likely to hamper investment in R&D; therefore, it is envisaged to improve\r\nefficiency and outcomes so as to attract uninterrupted investment. This research identifies key issues\r\nin launching knowledge management initiative in the R&D organizations. Furthermore, knowledge\r\nmanagement tools, strategy and roadmap for subsequent application were discussed. Various\r\nparameters being used for measuring R&D performance were described. The conclusion of this\r\nresearch is that performance of R&D organizations can be enhanced by using knowledge management....

This paper brings out the application of particle swarm technique for allocation of the major components of process cost to various qualities of alloy steel. The cost of the major operational materials such as refractories, electrodes and nipples, ingot moulds etc., cannot be directly allocated to each quality. Since\r\nthe consumption of operational materials does not only depend on the time but also on the quality of the steel manufactured, the approach envisages the application of particle swarm algorithm to estimate the consumption pattern for each quality manufactured, so that a realistic quality-wise cost can be arrived at....
A firm performance evaluation and its comparison with other companies can help the investors to reach the investment goals. Purpose of this study is representing manners which select the problem and solve ranking optimally by multi criteria decision making methods and by high ability. If the manners are combined correctly, by power keeping of each ways, its weakness will be offset by other powers. In this research, the method is measuring descriptive method and based on and practical applicable goals. For using conceptual model in the company''s performance evaluation, statistical society is all 28 cement companies which accepted in Tehran Exchange Markets since (1379 to1388) and all 15 cement companies which accepted in Istanbul Exchange Markets since(2009). In this study, a combined method (TOPSIS- AHP) in the company''s performance evaluation is presented by financial ratios. Financial ratios weights respected to views of different groups of experts are determined by AHP and thus, each ratio is used by its importance in the performance of firm evaluation and ranking of each firm is determined by TOPSIS method. based on implemented ranking, Ardabil and Azar Shahr lime and Adana cement companies have the first rank....
The purpose of this article is to investigate the effects of the dimensions of organizational justice on\r\norganizational commitment. On this basis, the main question and five hypotheses have been\r\ndeveloped. The hypotheses are based on the conceptual model of research. Considering the nature of\r\nthe statistical population and the temporal and spatial limitations, we have used the measurement\r\nmethod of research in our study. The selected sample from the 6000 strong statistical population (all\r\nthe employees of the University of Medical Sciences of the province of Lorestan) consisted of 361\r\npersons chosen by using the Morgan Table. Questionnaires were the tool employed for gathering\r\ninformation in the study. The first part of the questionnaire was devoted to sociological information,\r\nand the second part to gathering information about organizational justice. To evaluate the stability of\r\nthe tools used in the research, the Cronbachs alpha method was used. The information gathered in the\r\nquestionnaires was analyzed at the two levels of descriptive analysis (that is, the descriptive analysis of\r\nthe data concerning the population and the analysis of the description of the data specific to the study)\r\nand inferential analysis....
